Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez has likened Manchester City to European champions Barcelona after his side were beaten 3-0 at the Etihad Stadium.
A Sergio Aguero hat-trick handed Roberto Mancini's all three points and ensured they made it four wins from four in the Premier League.
David Silva was also in fantastic form for the hosts and the Wigan boss admitted that his team came up against a near unstoppable force in the Citizens.
"The understanding between David Silva and Sergio Aguero was something special. Their football is so creative and unpredictable that you have to be perfect when you play against them," he said after the clash.
"If you look at Barcelona three years ago, or when they started with Frank Rijkaard, they had these flashes that Manchester City have been showing.
"To be compared to Barcelona, you have to win the title but they [Manchester City] have the ability to achieve anything in world football."
Despite the brilliance of the home side, Martinez admitted that he was disappointed in his team's showing.
He said: "It is fair to say that Manchester City have earned the status to be title challengers.
"But from our point of view, when you come places like this you need to be perfect. I don’t think we were.
"I think we were far, far away from what we can be. If you don’t perform at your best, the quality of the opposition will show."
