thumbnail Hello,

Frenchman is full of admiration for the skill and tenacity of the Red Devils' forward in leading the line and pressing opposition defenders to regain possession

Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri believes Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has all the qualities a modern day striker needs to excel at the highest level.

The 25-year-old Liverpudlian joined the Red Devils from Everton in 2004, and has gone on to score 145 goals in 317 appearances under the guidance of manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

And ahead of Sunday's clash with Arsene Wenger's men, Nasri showered praise on Rooney, who has an impressive goalscoring record against Arsenal and who will be doing his best to inflict further carnage on the Gunners' season.

"What impresses the most about him is his first touch, his ball control," said Nasri, according to The News of the World.

"This gives him the ability to beat a man or turn towards where the play is.

"He likes running from deep and can do a lot of damage. He's also their first defender, which is a nightmare for a defence. When he loses the ball he's prepared to sprint 40 metres to win it back.

"And then he either wins it back or fouls you, so you know you have to get rid of it, because he gives a dig.

"The amazing overhead kick he scored against Manchester City underlines all his qualities. Timing, risk-taking, a good eye, and technique. He has it all. He is the archetype of the modern striker."
