Wayne Rooney has revealed that he strives to be part of a Manchester United side that overtakes Liverpool's league titles haul.
The two clubs are currently stuck on 18 league titles apiece, but with United five points clear at the top of the table it would appear likely that the Old Trafford club will claim that piece of history for their own come the end of the season.
The England international striker, an Everton fan as a youngster and former prodigy at Goodison Park, has stuck his neck out and admitted that he would love to beat Liverpool's record of titles.
"It's something I've been thinking about a lot," said Rooney.
"I'm from Liverpool and grew up as an Everton fan so to be part of the team that overtake Liverpool would mean so much."
