City currently lie in third place, seven points behind leaders and local rivals Manchester United, and the Spaniard thinks if the Red Devils slip up then the Sky Blues will be in prime position to pounce for top spot.
Silva told The Sun: "If we win at Stamford Bridge and United have a few more problems in the closing weeks, there is still a chance of us winning the league.”
The winger also believes the onus will be on Carlo Ancelotti’s side to go forward and press for victory due to their own title ambitions and the World Cup winner thinks whoever can handle the situation better will win the game.
He added: "Chelsea are also obliged to win, so the situation increases the pressure. I think the team with the better attack will win. We need to hold our nerve and not change our attacking philosophy.”
The Spaniard has also backed Carlos Tevez to regain his scoring form as the Argentinean has found the net just once in his last nine games which is typical of City’s recent striking woes and Silva revealed how highly he rated his team-mate.
"Carlos [Tevez] is one of the best footballers in the world and decisive for us. I've learned a lot from him."
