Manchester United and England defender Rio Ferdinand admits he can't wait for Wayne Rooney to return to action following his break away from the game in the US in a bid to finally resolve his persistent ankle injury problems.
Rooney has not played since United’s 2-2 draw with West Brom in October and, adding to the saga of his potential departure from Old Trafford, his return will be eagerly anticipated.
His ankle injury has now healed and Ferdinand knows the value Rooney has to the United team.
“Hopefully Wazza [Wayne Rooney] will come back and be the Wazza we remember. That is what everyone is hoping," Ferdinand told reporters.
“He has gone away and worked really hard physically, a fit Rooney is one of the best players in the world.”
"We all hope he comes back in great shape and ready to play for Manchester United and England in the future.”
