Pick Your Liverpool Team To Play Sunderland

Who should Roy Hodgson stick with following League Cup failure?
Liverpool face Sunderland at home on Saturday off the back of one of their worst results in recent years.

The Reds suffered a humiliating League Cup exit in midweek at the hands of League Two Northampton Town, and they will be looking to repay the faith of the Anfield support against Steve Bruce’s men.

Despite resting a number of key players against the Cobblers, Daniel Agger, Lucas Leiva, Milan Jovanovic, Ryan Babel and David Ngog all started. Their places are undoubtedly under threat, which means Roy Hodgson is likely to recall the majority of the line-up that started against Manchester United last weekend.

Dirk Kuyt has returned from injury sooner than expected but may not be fit in time to face Sunderland, while Raul Meireles, Joe Cole and the regular spine of the Liverpool team, Pepe Reina, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres all look certain to start.

Gerrard has been played in a withdrawn role in midfield so far this season. Raul Meireles played behind Fernando Torres against United last week and could play the same position again.

Here is the available squad:

Goalkeepers: Pepe Reina, Brad Jones

Defenders: Glen Johnson, Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel, Paul Konchesky, Daniel Agger, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Danny Wilson, Martin Kelly

Midfielders: Christian Poulsen, Raul Meireles, Steven Gerrard, Joe Cole, Lucas Leiva, Maxi Rodriguez, Jay Spearing, Jonjo Shelvey

Forwards: Fernando Torres, Milan Jovanovic, Dani Pacheco, David Ngog, Dirk Kuyt
