The 21-year-old Ecuadorian striker spent last season on loan with Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon, where he made only seven appearances, before moving to La Liga club Malaga for the remainder of the 2009/10 campaign, appearing 18 times for the Spanish club and scoring four goals.
The former Basel player joined City in 2008, and has made 27 appearances for the Blues, scoring four goals.
