Sven Goran Eriksson has revealed that he has had no contact with Aston Villa over the vacant manager's position at Villa Park.
Goal.com UK exclusively revealed yesterday that the Birmingham-based club have been in contact with Martin Jol about the possibility of taking the hotseat vacated by Martin O'Neill before the start of the Premier League season, but it seems there has been no such contact with the Swedish former England manager
Speaking to BBC Radio Five Live Sportsweek, Eriksson said: "I have had no contact with them. I want to get back into football. It's a big club, everybody knows that, but I've had no contact. We'll see what happens.
"There are so many available managers around Europe and around the world, I'm not the only one (not contacted). And they did very well yesterday so they might not do anything."
The former Manchester City manager also went on to implicitly criticise the treatment meted out to David Beckham by England coach Fabio Capello, saying he would have been sure to talk to the former England captain personally before ending his international career.
Beckham was a mainstay and captain of Eriksson's England set-up and the Swede was not approving of the manner in which the LA Galaxy midfielder has been apparently frozen out by Capello after the recent friendly victory over Hungary
"It's very difficult to answer. I don't know if Capello had talked to Beckham before. I hope he had, because then maybe it is okay."David Beckham deserves all the respect you can give to him. When he gets fit, he is still a very good football player. If it is somebody with 20, 30, 40, 50 caps then yes, you have to [speak to the player before you dropp him].
"I would do it myself, I did it many times - David Seaman was one."
