Six-nil drubbing of West Brom the biggest in opening day history...

The Premier League is back and after an enthralling opening Saturday, it seems sure to be another exciting season.

The followers of new boys Blackpool and champions Chelsea will have forgotten all about England's struggles in the World Cup after seeing their sides crush Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion respectively.

Chelsea in particularly impressed as they recorded a 6-0 victory over the Baggies at Stamford Bridge, which is the biggest win for any team on the opening day of the season in the history of the Premier League.

But how does that compare to some other goalscoring feats in England's top-flight? UK takes a look...

9-0 - the biggest win in the Premier League since it was launched in 1992. It was achieved by Manchester United in 1995 against Ipswich Town at Old Trafford.

8-1 - the biggest away win in the Premier League. Again, it was Manchester United, this time on their travels at Nottingham Forest in 1999.

11 - the most goals ever in a Premier League game. Portsmouth defeated Reading 7-4 on September 29, 2007

3 - the number of hat-tricks Didier Drogba has scored in the Premier League - incredibly two have come in his last two outings, as he notched a treble against Wigan on the final day last season.

11 - the record number of hat-tricks scored by one player in the Premier League. That player? Alan Shearer, nine of them at Blackburn and two with Newcastle United.

16 - the number of games to have finished 6-0 in the history of the Premier League. By contrast, the most popular scoreline is 1-0, achieved an incredible 1332 times. 0-0 lags far behind, occurring only 624 times.

68 - the number of goals Chelsea scored at home last season, a Premier League record.

103 - the number of goals Chelsea scored, home and away, last season, another Premier League record.

114 - the number of goals Chelsea would score at home in the Premier League if they maintained an average of six goals per game at Stamford Bridge this season. They would reach 228 if they did so home and away.
