Barcelona Seek Everton Midfielder Mikel Arteta As Arsenal Captain Cesc Fabregas Fades From View - Report

Mikel Arteta is delighted after helping his side fight back against Aston Villa in the FA Cup
Barcelona are believed to be willing to make a move for Everton midfielder Mikel Arteta after becoming frustrated with the difficulties in moving forward with a deal for Arsenal skipper Cesc Fabregas.

The Catalan club's youth product has long been linked with a move back to Camp Nou, with speculation hitting new heights this summer as the Spanish champions attempted to engineer a deal.

The midfielder was reported to have had a talk with Barca boss Pep Guardiola during the course of the World Cup 2010 in South Africa, while a number of players at the Spanish club openly entertained the prospect of having the Gunner in their armoury during the upcoming season.

However, the north London club have thus far refused to budge on their position concerning their star, and the Liverpool Daily Post now reports that the 2009 Champions League winners have turned their attention to secondary targets.

It has consequently been reported that Arteta is high on the list of targets for Guardiola and his men, with the midfielder having already been linked with a moves to a clutch of clubs.

Manchester City, Manchester United and Sevilla have in the past been linked with moves for the Spaniard.
