Manchester City's summer signing Yaya Toure believes the club should set their sights on qualifying for the Champions League.
The Ivorian, who moved to Eastlands from Barcelona earlier this month, is one of four major signings this summer, with Jerome Boateng (from Hamburg), Aleksandar Kolarov (Lazio) and David Silva (Valencia) also arriving at Eastlands.
Roberto Mancini’s men narrowly missed out on Champions League qualification last season by finishing fifth, earning a place in the Europa League.
Toure says the club should aim to qualify for the Champions League first before setting their sights on a title challenge.
"I am very happy to sign for the club and I think this year will be very good for [Manchester] City," he told Sky Sports News.
"For the moment what I expect is for the club to go up, maybe finish third or fourth to be in the Champions League qualification.
"After one year with these players maybe we can take the championship.
"For now it is so difficult because with top teams like Chelsea, Man United and Arsenal they need to work hard to go up."
