thumbnail Hello,

Moyes would be the 'perfect candidate'...

Sir Alex Ferguson thinks that Everton’s David Moyes is the perfect candidate to succeed him as Manchester United manager.

With reports suggesting that Ferguson is going to lead United for only one more season before stepping down, and the 68-year-old believes that Moyes is the right man to help the Red Devils remain an elite club, according to The Sun.

It had been rumoured that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was the favourite to take the United job but Ferguson has been an admirer of Moyes during his time at Preston and Everton.

United sits one point behind Chelsea with three games remaining, and should Ferguson lead his squad to another Premier League title it would be their record fourth in a row and the 12th league championship since he took charge of the club in 1986.

Moyes had led Everton on an impressive charge towards an unlikely Europa League qualification.

After losing three consecutive games in November the Toffees have only lost twice in their next 19 matches and sit four points behind Aston Villa, who have a game in hand, for the last Europa League spot.
