Dirk Kuyt Hoping Liverpool Can Dent Manchester United's Premier League Title Chances

Win at Old Trafford would be most welcome...

Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt is relishing the opportunity to face old foes Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and hopes that Rafael Benitez's team can beat their rivals for the fourth consecutive game.

The fact that a victory might also dent Sir Alex Ferguson's chances of winning the Premier League, and surpassing Liverpool's record of 18 English top flight titles, is an added bonus for the Dutchman.

"It's another thing. No one here at Liverpool wants to see them winning another league title but the main thing for us is to win our own games," Kuyt told the Reds' official website.

"It's a big rivalry. It's my fourth season at the club so I know what it means. I know how it feels when we beat them and hopefully we can do it again on Sunday.

"Winning the last three games against them shows this team can do it. Everyone knows things haven't gone as we wanted over the last couple of months but that's behind us.

"We've had a good week so far and if we get the same result as we did last year in Manchester then it will turn into a fantastic week. If we play like we did against Lille and Portsmouth, I'm sure we have a chance."

Three points would also be very handy for Liverpool in their hunt for fourth place as well, as Kuyt acknowledged.

"It's a very big game because our aim is the top four. We really need the three points and we have to go for it, he said.

"To finish in the top four you have to concentrate on yourself and win your games, starting on Sunday. If we carry on playing like this we have a chance to win every game."

Meanwhile, Kuyt is also hopeful that the ever increasing sharpness of Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard means that the Reds can look forward to a successful conclusion to the season.

"Everyone knows Fernando and Stevie are world class. We've got a good team but with those two we know they can decide every game for us," he said.

"The form Fernando is in now is great for the team and hopefully he can do the same again on Sunday.

"The reaction of the team has been good this week and we'll try to win every game between now and the end of the season."
