Pay Row Could See Robinho Return To Manchester City From Santos - Report
Robinho's honeymoon homecoming could be cut short...
Robinho could yet return from Santos to Manchester City before the end of the season, according to a report from The Manchester Evening News.
The newspaper claims that the Brazilian forward is at the centre of a row between Santos and two of the club's sponsors as to whether a deal has been reached over his wages or not.
Unless Santos can resolve the issue and conclude sponsorship deals worth £375,000 a month, then the striker wil have no option but to return to Eastlands.
Santos and Robinho's representative, Evandro Souza, are playing down the issue, with Souza stating: "It is not the case. Santos have fulfilled their obligations up until this day, and so has Robinho."
They have also denied reports that the player did not receive his salary for the first month of his loan spell in Brazil.
Santos has claimed previously that deals with three major sponsors would fund Robinho's wages. One of those deals has broken down, but the other two, with Volkswagen and Seara, are yet to be finalised.
Without sponsorship Santos, whose average gate is 10,000, would not be able to afford the player's salary, said to be around £160,000 a week when he was at Eastlands.
Robinho has said that he is delighted to be playing for Santos and wants to extend his loan spell beyond August when it expires.
