Tigers to make swift announcementHull City, according to a host of media reports on Wednesday.
Following the departure of Brown, sacked by the Tigers board due to a run of insufficient results that have sent Hull into the relegation zone, City chairman Adam Pearson held talks with Dowie.
Former England coach Terry Venables, Portsmouth boss Avram Grant and ex-Manchester City manager Mark Hughes were also reportedly considerered for the position.
Dowie, though, appears set to be tasked with keeping Hull in the top flight after the 45-year-old has overseen training today. According to the BBC, a press conference will be staged at 11am GMT today, where Dowie will be unveiled.
Pearson recently asserted that a change in manager will hopefully be the catalyst for a change in form.
"We feel that we're best served by making the change now. That will bring a fresh face in, some new impetus and some new focus to get those 14 or 15 points that we're going to need."
