Premier League Player Ratings: Hull 1-2 Arsenal
Nicklas Bendtner's late winner keeps Gunners in the title race
HULL CITY
Boaz Myhill - 6 - No chance with Arshavin's opener and didn't have much else to do until he spilled Denilson's shot that allowed Bendtner to score the winner.
Bernard Mendy - 6 - First game for three months. Was outmuscled by the diminutive Arshavin for the first goal. Succeeded in kicking the ball out of the ground though.
Kamil Zayatte - 6 - Caught out for first goal and then subbed after Campbell's fair but fruity challenge.
Steven Mouyokolo - 7 - Did well to restrict Arsenal to just a handful of chances.
Andy Dawson - 7 - Did well to restrict Arsenal penetration down the wings. Cautioned for late and unnecessary scythe on Denilson.
Craig Fagan - 6 - A spikey presence in midfield but didn't offer a whole lot going forward.
George Boateng - 2 - Let his side down. Booked for sticking finger in Bendtner's eye. Deservedly received his second yellow following late tackle on Sagna. Should have been a straight red.
Jimmy Bullard - 8 - Hull's creative spark. Dispatched the penalty with aplomb.
Dean Marney - 7 - Neat heel flick to put through Vennegoor of Hesselink before the penalty was conceded.
Jozy Altidore - 7 - Impressed with his energetic performance. Offered Hull a robust and mobile presence up front but didn't offer a huge goal threat.
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink - 6 - Held the ball up reasonably well but struggled against the Arsenal offside trap. Was in fact offside in the build-up to the penalty being awarded.
Substitutes
Liam Cooper - 6 - On for the crocked Zayatte with half an hour to go.
Richard Garcia - n/a - Replaced Vennegoor of Hesselink on 73 minutes.
Kevin Kilbane - n/a - On for Altidore for the last 10.
Manuel Almunia - 7 - Not a huge amount to do. Got nowhere near Bullard's spot kick.
Bacary Sagna - 7 - Accuracy of his crossing has improved of late. Attacking surge drew foul and red card for Boateng.
Sol Campbell - 7 - Uncompromising presence in defence. Clumsy challenge on Vennegoor of Hesselink that led to the penalty and a booking. Meaty but technically fair tackle almost amputated Zayatte's leg.
Thomas Vermaelen - 8 - Dominating at the back and even displayed a level of skill on the ball that some Premier League forwards don't even possess.
Gael Clichy - 7 - Comfortable in defence but needed to show a bit more appetite going forward.
Samir Nasri - 7 - Not the sparkling performance of Porto. Fatigue almost certainly a factor but it meant that Fabregas's creativity was missed.
Denilson - 7 - Very, very quiet until the strike that led to Bendtner's goal. Didn't do a lot wrong but didn't shine either.
Abou Diaby - 7 - Tried to lift the side but midweek efforts appeared to have taken their toll on his legs.
Andrey Arshavin - 8 - Did 'a Nasri' by dribbling through a pair of Hull defenders before slotting home the opener. Guilty of blazing over a perfectly good opportunity.
Nicklas Bendtner - 9 - An excellent performance. Scored the winner when it looked like the game was ebbing away. Earlier on had provided a simple square ball for Arshavin's goal but an assist is an assist. Yellow card for reacting to Boateng's off-the-ball face poke.
Emmanuel Eboue - 6 - Showed some nice touches but made no meaningful impact.
Theo Walcott - 7 - On for Eboue after 65 minutes. Created a goal-scoring chance immediately only for Arshavin to waste it.
Eduardo - n/a - On for Nasri with 15 mins to go.
