EPL: Andrey Arshavin, Portsmouth v Arsenal (PA)
Arsenal attacker Andrey Arshavin believes that Chelsea are on course to be crowned champions of England when the curtain comes down on this season.

The fleet-footed Russian delivered a forthright assessment of his side, maintaining that the losses to Carlo Ancelotti's charges and Manchester United have put the Gunners in a difficult position in the title chase.

Now, with the Stamford Bridge outfit four points clear at the top with a six-point lead over their London rivals, the former Zenit St. Petersburg player believes the Blues are the favourites to win the title.

When asked by Russian newspaper Sport Express to choose whether Chelsea or United would triumph this season, Arshavin said: "If choosing between them, I think Chelsea.

"If we were not defeated by United and Chelsea we would be on even terms with them now. But as it is we just need to stay in the race by winning each next match. And we will fight as long as we have the slightest of chances."

Arsenal beat Sunderland on Saturday and have tricky trip to a physically dominant Stoke City next weekend.
