Chelsea Defender Ashley Cole Out For Three Months

Club and country will be without their first-choice left-back...

Ashley Cole
Chelsea have today confirmed that Ashley Cole will be out for three months or so after fracturing his ankle in last night's 2-1 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.

The defender sustained the injury in a tackle with the Toffees' forward Landon Donovan.

The player should return to action by mid-May, but the injury also throws Cole's participation at this summer's World Cup into some doubt.

Three Lions gaffer Fabio Capello has often stated that he wil take only fully-fit players to the tournament.

Wayne Bridge could find himself in the frame to deputise for Cole, and probably lining up alongside John Terry, alleged to have had an affair with Bridge's former girlfriend.
