Manchester City striker Robinho may be heading back to Brazil and his old club Santos in a loan deal, The Telegraph understands.
Despite manager Roberto Mancini saying Robinho was still part of his plans, despite hauling him off at Everton last Saturday just 51 minutes after being brought on as sub, City are now believed to be holding talks with Brazillian outfit Santos over a possible short-term move.
The two clubs are said to be some way off agreeing financial terms for the Brazil international goal-getter, who headed for Eastlands from Real Madrid for a British record transfer fee.
Santos, who sold Robinho to the Spainish giants in 2005, expect to pay a proportion of the striker's £160,000-a-week wages should a compromise be reached.
With several players being rested Robinho, who scored just three goals during 2009, is expected to feature in the Citizens' FA Cup fourth round tie against Scunthorpe.
