Patrick Vieira To Have Medical Before Signing 18 Month Deal At Manchester City This Afternoon
French veteran edges nearer to Eastlands switch...
Patrick Vieira will undergo a medical at Manchester City this afternoon before he commits to an 18 month contract at Eastlands, according to a report from Sky Sports News.
The 33-year-old former Arsenal star reportedly bid his team-mates in Italy farewell last night and will today sign a deal that some sources claim could earn him £140,000 a week.
Vieira is said to be keen to complete the switch in order to boost his chances of appearing in the World Cup for France after slipping down the pecking order at the San Siro.
"The important thing for me is to go to Manchester City and to show the coach [Roberto Mancini] I'm the same player as when he was in charge of Inter," Vieira said.
Vieira is still the captain of Les Bleus, but has not appeared in an official game for Raymon Domenech's team since September 2007. He has won 107 caps for his country.
The midfielder has been absent from the Premier League for five years after he left Arsenal. He went first to Juventus, before joining Inter where he has been for four years.
