EXCLUSIVE: Nemanja Vidic To Hold Crunch Talks Over Manchester United Future
Unsettled Serbian to meet with agent amid interest from Spanish giants...
Reports have emerged in recent months that the Serbian centre back, 28, has grown unsettled in the north west of England. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been linked with a big money swoop for the £30 million rated star.
These rumours swelled at the weekend after his last minute mystery injury withdrawal from the calamitous 1-0 defeat to League One Leeds United left manager Sir Alex Ferguson incensed.
A source close to Vidic’s agent, Silvano Martina, confirmed today that the pair agreed to meet up after the postponed Manchester City League Cup Semi-final first leg clash to discuss the situation.
On the agenda will be the issue of whether Vidic desires an extension to his stay at the club which began in January 2006 following his £7 million move from Spartak Moscow. The 2009 Ballon d’Or nominee’s current contract runs until January 2012.

Up in the air | Vidic's future is uncertain
Vidic is rumoured to be seeking a pay rise from £70,000 a week to more than £100,000 a week, which will give him parity with the top earners at the club, Wayne Rooney and Rio Ferdinand.
With the player signing a lucrative contract extension just two years ago Manchester United have not yet returned to the negotiating table.
The source said: “Nemanja [Vidic] will be speaking to his agent [Silvano Martina] after tomorrow’s match with Manchester City. I expect this to happen at the end of the week.
“We will see what happens after that. Silvano [Martina] spoke to Nemanja one week ago and he was feeling normal, with no great problem.
“There is no news in regards to a new contract and nothing is on the table.”
When pushed on reports of a move from Florentino Perez’s free spending Real Madrid, the source quickly downplayed an imminent January transfer window switch to La Liga:
“It is normal that big clubs are interested in a huge player like Nemanja, but no club has expressed an interest in signing him recently,” he said.
Vidic’s decision to not take to the pitch on Sunday after pulling up in the warm up was also described as “just a minor injury” and “a safety measure,” said the source.
He added: "He will be ready for Wednesday."
Manchester United declined to comment.
