Manchester City will demand £7 million as a transfer fee from Chelsea for striker Daniel Sturridge when a tribunal attempts to determine a reasonable fee for the player on January 14, according to a report from The Daily Telegraph.
Sturridge left City in the summer after rejecting their offer of a new contract. Despite the fact that he allowed his deal to wind down, City are entitled to a fee for the 20-year-old as he began his career with the club as a 14-year-old.
Former City boss Mark Hughes was keen to hang on to the striker, who had been voted the Eastlands outfit's young player of the year for the 2008/09 season.
The Citizens were understood to want a £10m fee but have decided to settle on £7m as being more reasonable.
Chelsea are reportedly prepared to offer half of that amount, pointing to the fact that Sturridge made only 26 senior appearances for City last season.
