Chelsea are poised to make a £45 million splash to bring in Bayern Munich midfielder Franck Ribery, according to The People.
Manager Carlo Ancelotti had previously explained that he does not intend to raid owner Roman Abramovich's coffers come January, but it is claimed that the former Milan boss is expected to take a U-turn and go ahead with the procurement of the prized midfielder.
It is believed that the Blues' alarming run in recent times, which has only seen one win in the last seven games in all competitions, has prompted the Russian tycoon to give the green light for a binge on the transfer market, making Ribery the club's top target in the process.
The west London club also have a transfer ban that will be imposed on them during the summer - owing to the saga involving Gael Kakuta's purchase from RC Lens - which is believed to be the reason behind Abramovich's willingness to open the chequebook during the upcoming transfer window.
In the meantime, the Bavarian club are reportedly having trouble with getting the Frenchman to sign a new contract, and it is believed they will look to sell their star player, should he decline to sign on the dotted line before January.
