Sir Alex Ferguson Expects Manchester United Defenders To Return Within A Week
United boss hopes to have more options in defence soon
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson is expecting to get some of his defenders back to full fitness soon.
Despite admitting that Rio Ferdinand’s return could be a long way off, Ferguson is hopeful that he can return the likes of Michael Carrick to the midfield with more experienced defenders Jonny Evans, Nemanja Vidic and Wes Brown set to return.
"Johnny Evans started training yesterday. He didn’t do an awful lot as he’s still feeling pain and we’re trying to get him through that,” Ferguson is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail.
“I think by the Leeds United game [on January 3] we could have three centre-backs fit."
Carrick has been filling in at centre-back recently while the Red Devils struggle to find fit defenders.
