Chelsea Still On Course For 90 Points This Season - John Terry

Target is achievable, says JT...

EPL: John Terry, Chelsea - Wigan Athletic (PA)

John Terry insists that Chelsea are on course to rake in 90 points in the Premier League this season, despite their suicidal defending in dead-ball situations.

The west London club registered their first victory in five games in all competitions, albeit in an unconvincing manner, when a Frank Lampard penalty separated the table toppers from rock-bottom Portsmouth on Wednesday.

With second-placed Manchester United three points behind, Terry believes that his side could have had a bigger lead if they had been tighter at the back.

"We should be further ahead at the top of the league and we only have ourselves to blame," he said, according to ESPNSoccernet.

"I understand everyone feeling frustrated, our defending of set-plays was unacceptable.

"We're still on target for 90 points this season and we are the only club which is. Saturday was the first time we have dropped points at home this term and I want it to be the last."

Following the victory over Pompey, Chelsea will now play West Ham United on Sunday.
