Arsene Wenger Still Seeking Compensation After Robin Van Persie Injury
Gunners boss looking for payout despite FIFA ruling...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is still keen to pursue a compensation claim for the injury sustained by Robin van Persie, despite FIFA claiming that no legal action would be taken against the Dutch Football Federation.
The Arsenal and Holland front-man damaged ankle ligaments in an international friendly against Italy in mid-November, and is unlikely to return to action until the end of the season.
It had been claimed by Arsenal that the Dutch federation were guilty of misdiagnosing van Persie’s injury and that some compensation would be sought, however FIFA have confirmed that all clubs remain entirely responsible for insuring their playing staff.
Wenger maintains that something must be done in terms of a payout, but doesn’t go as far as saying how much money would be deemed satisfactory.
"I have never spoken of any number, I just want to say that we cannot just sit there and lose all our players for the season and say 'thank you very much”, he said, as quoted by Press Association Sport.
"We have to look for any compensation that we can get."
