Arsenal's Arsene Wenger Backs Jack Wilshere Loan Bid
Gunners boss keen for youngster to gain first team experience...
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has said he supports Jack Wilshere’s bid to gain first team football away from the Emirates Stadium.
The youngster has previously stated his desire for a loan move to a Premier League outfit as opportunities in the Arsenal first team still appear limited despite the club’s injury crisis.
The midfielder will be pleased to hear that his manager shares his sentiments, but Wenger insists a loan move will only be sanctioned to the right club.
"There is a chance [for a loan], if we have an interesting opportunity," Wenger said, as quoted by Press Association Sport.
"I would prefer it to be in the Premier League, but at the top level of the Championship could be interesting as well."
Wenger has actively encouraged his younger players to secure loan deals in the past with the likes of Armand Traore, Vito Mannone and Kieran Gibbs having tasted first team action elsewhere during recent seasons.
The Arsenal boss highlighted the importance of regular competitive football for youngsters such as Wilshere.
"It is important for Jack to play, so if we find a good opportunity, we will consider it," he added.
Glasgow clubs Celtic and Rangers, along with Championship side Middlesbrough are believed to be interested in the 17-year-old.
