Sir Alex Ferguson Cools Rumours Linking Edin Dzeko To Manchester United
Bosnian striker not headed to Old Trafford despite Phelan comments
By Nick Price
Sir Alex Ferguson has refuted reports linking Manchester United with a swoop for Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko.
The Bosnian has been heavily linked to the Premier League champions after coming to prominence with 40 goals in 75 appearances for the Bundesliga champions.
But the German side seem unlikely to repeat the successes of last season, which would likely see their prized asset leave the Volkswagen Arena with several top teams charting his progress.
However, Ferguson, speaking ahead of tomorrow's game against Wolfsburg, has distanced United from the player despite his assistant Mike Phelan earlier hinting that he was being monitored.
"It is an age-old story," Ferguson told reporters at a press conference.
"Every time someone does well against Manchester United we are going to buy him the next day.
"There is nothing from Manchester United at this moment concerning Edin Dzeko."
