Portsmouth's players have not been paid for the month of November, according to a club statement.

This is the second time that the Fratton Park players have not received their wages this season, with the saga surrounding the convoluted summer takeover of the club meaning that September's pay packet was also delayed until the middle of October.

Now a statement from the club has confirmed that their players have yet to receive payment of their wages for November.

The statement read: "The majority of the first team squad have not yet received their November salaries.

"A proportion of their wages will be paid on Friday, with the club's new owners working towards paying the remainder over the next few days."

Portsmouth have endured a testing few weeks, with a transfer ban put in place at Fratton Park after the club failed to pay the remaining balance of transfer fees. Chief executive Peter Storrie also faces a trial in the New Year for alleged tax evasion offences.

Manager Paul Hart was also sacked last week, with director of football Avram Grant taking over team affairs, though he cannot yet be confirmed as the club's manager until he receives a work permit.

On the pitch, the club are three points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League table with only two wins all season where they face a key game against Burnley at Fratton Park on Saturday.
