Manchester United To Loan Out Ben Foster In January - Report

Manchester United are set to send goalkeeper Ben Foster out on loan in January so that he can keep alive his hopes of making the England World Cup squad.

Foster has found himself behind Edwin van der Sar in the Old Trafford pecking order, battling for a spot on the bench with Tomasz Kuszczak.

That has left the Englishman's World Cup ambitions in tatters, with Three Lions boss Fabio Capello known to only want players who are match-fit in South Africa.

The Daily Mirror indicates that the Old Trafford hierarchy have now informed clubs who were interested in taking Kuszczak on loan that the Pole will be staying at the club as back-up to Van der Sar.

That clears the way for Foster, who has started only 11 Premier League games in his Old Trafford career, to move in January.

United hope that a loan move will help seal Foster's England place for South Africa. They then feel that he will return with his confidence high in August, ready to step up into Van der Sar's shoes as number one.
