Manchester United Striker Michael Owen Is A Threat To Tottenham Hotspur - Sebastien Bassong
League Cup tie will be interesting, says Bassong...
Tottenham Hotspur defender Sebastien Bassong has warned his team-mates that Manchester United striker Michael Owen is a lethal threat to the club's ambition of progression in the League Cup.
Spurs will clash against Sir Alex Ferguson's men on Tuesday night at Old Trafford, with a spot in the semi-final up for grabs.
"Michael is an unbelievable striker in and around the box - he's such a threat and we have to be wary of him," Bassong, a former team-mate of Owen's at Newcastle United, told the club's official website.
"He's been through his bad times over the last couple of years, but he is still a great player and I have no doubts that he will do a job for United this season and score goals."
Both sides are expected to give their fringe players a run out on the pitch, but the ex-Newcastle player insists that there will be no lack of inspiration among the players.
"Both managers will make changes because some players may need to be rested, so any player who plays will want to prove their quality, which will only add to the contest," he said.
"It's going to be an interesting game. Both teams will want to win, so it will be an attacking game, and it's always a pleasure to play at Old Trafford."
