Micah Richards Seeks Quick Reaction From Manchester City

Citizens must react quickly to yet another draw...

Manchester City defender Micah Richards believes that he and his team-mates must react positively to their weekend draw with Hull City by achieving a good result against Arsenal in the League Cup this week.

City found themselves drawing for the seventh consecutive game at Eastlands on Saturday, after Jimmy Bullard's second half penalty tied the game at 1-1.

Although Richards was disappointed that the referee chose to award the spot kick, he insists that it cannot be used as an excuse for the result.

"At the time the referee said it was for handball, we watched it again afterwards and the referee has pointed at his hand," the England international told City's official website.

"Having looked at the video, if it was for a foul it does not look like Kolo has touched him, so it's hard to take. But we cannot use it as an excuse, we should be scoring more than once against Hull, and that's no disrespect to them. We didn't do that, and it’s another disappointment for us.

"We did not create that much, but we still had plenty of chances. We were not at our best and could have scored a few. What we can't do is dwell on this, there are two massive games coming up so we'll just prepare for Arsenal now before thinking about Chelsea later."

Richards was also disappointed that City failed to close the game against Hull out once they were in the lead.

"I thought we controlled the game after getting the first goal and I thought that would have spurred us on to get a second, but we couldn't," he added.

"It was a disappointing performance, we normally gel at home and make some good combinations but we didn't do that. And to concede a very debatable goal was not great either, I don't know if it was a handball or a foul. I didn't think it was either, so we feel a bit hard done by."
