Chelsea Captain John Terry Hails Vital Win Over Arsenal
Winning captain hails team after win over title rivals
Chelsea captain John Terry praised his team after they cruised to a 3-0 away win over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
Star striker Didier Drogba scored two goals, with a Thomas Vermaelen own goal sandwiched in between as Chelsea further extended their grip on the title race and seemingly put their rivals ambitions to the sword.
Captain Terry who delivered a sterling defensive performance was delighted with the manner of his side's victory having scored two goals late in the first half.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match he said: "We've been there before and thrown it away, so we need to regroup and stay together, but at the moment you can see people throwing their bodies in front of balls and everyone fighting for each other, which is great to see."
Terry admitted he felt Chelsea were in excellent form, but emphasised the need to continue in such a manner.
He added: "We're playing really well, we have great confidence and great team spirit, and we need to continue this."
Despite coming under some sustained pressure at the beginning of the second half, Terry admitted that his team's preparation had seen them through.
He said: "We expected it, we watched a lot of videos on them and we all know they are probably the best at playing possession.
"We did our job and soaked it up and, going forward, I thought the midfield and attack were exceptional - Nico (Anelka) and Didier spreading wide and our midfielders getting through the middle of them caused them all sorts of problems."
