Tottenham Hotspur forward Peter Crouch is excited by the football currently being played at White Hart Lane, though he maintains it is important that players and fans don't get over-excited.

However, the England striker is clearly buzzing about being part of a team in fourth place in the table who have already notched 32 goals.

The 9-1 thrashing of Wigan Athletic last weekend is also a result by which Crouch clearly feels inspired.

"Our football is exciting to watch, the fans who pay their money should be excited by what's happening," he told The Daily Telegraph.

"We have goalscorers. We have players who can open up defences and we have players out who are so creative, like Luka Modric.

"We don't want to get carried away but it was a fantastic result against Wigan. If you can't take confidence from a game like that, then I don't know when you can. We have made a bit of a statement with that result but we have to keep going along with all the other games and see what happens."

And Crouch is hoping that the victory over the Latics will have a similar effect on collective confidence at Spurs to that when Crouch was part of a Liverpool side that destroyed Birmingham City 7-0 in the FA Cup of 2006.

"My biggest previous result was when I was at Liverpool and we beat Birmingham by seven in the FA Cup. It was a big thing for our confidence, it had a great effect on us," he added.

Liverpool went on to win the FA Cup that year, beating West Ham United on penalties in the final.
