Manchester City Set To Swoop As Chelsea Refuse To Meet Benfica's Valuation Of Di Maria - Report
Manchester City are set to snap up highly-rated Benfica forward Angel Di Maria as Chelsea have dropped out of the race to sign him, according to a report in The Daily Telegraph.
The Portuguese giants rate the Argentine at £36 million, but Chelsea were keen to pay no more than £15 million.
That means City are set to make their move for the player in the summer, when it is understood that they will try to sell Robinho, who has been repeatedly linked with a move to Barcelona this season.
Benfica are keen to complete a deal in January though, as they have already reportedly enquired about Atletico Madrid's Simao Sabrosa and also do not want a lower release fee clause in Di Maria's contract to come into effect at the end of this campaign.
