Arsene Wenger Reveals Arsenal In Talks With Gallas, Rosicky And Vela Over New Deals

Boss keen to tie trio down...

Arsenal's William Gallas celebrates a fortunate goal against Celtic in the Champions League
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed the Gunners have begun talks with a trio of key players regarding new contracts with the club.

Defender William Gallas, playmaker Tomas Rosicky and striker Carlos Vela are all now in negotiations as Wenger looks to ensure his squad retains its depth of quality.

Gallas and Rosicky are in the final year of their current deals and could begin to look elsewhere in January, whilst Wenger believes 20-year-old Mexican international Vela has a big future ahead of him.

"We are speaking with Tomas and William, and I am optimistic to find a solution for both of them," the Gunners boss told The People.

"We've had no offers for Carlos and we are extending his contract at the moment.

"The problem we have is that we have some very good young players, but the players who are in front of them are also young.

"But Carlos was the reason I didn't replace Emmanuel Adebayor in the summer.

"He's that good. He's like Robbie Fowler, in that he needs very little time to make a decision in the box, he is very relaxed when he finishes."
