We Will Not Take A Financial Hit On Roman Pavlyuchenko Sale - Tottenham Hotspur Manager Harry Redknapp

Spurs boss declares Pav will not come cheap...

Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has told Roma he will accept nothing but big money for out-of-sorts striker Roman Pavlyuchenko.

The 27-year-old Russian has declared his eagerness to leave White Hart Lane in January, with Roma director Daniele Prade being sent to London this week to begin talks, due mainly to an underwhelming stint with Spurs, scoring only 5 goals in 36 league appearances.

But Redknapp, who inherited Pavlyuchenko from previous manager Juande Ramos, insists his club will take no financial hit just to get rid of him.

“That would be up to the chairman but he’s not a player we want to lose," the 62-year-old told the Sun.

“He wants to play regularly but it’s been difficult because the other strikers have all been great. There has been talk about him having to move to get games but we are happy with him.”

Redknapp affirmed that if the right offer came along, Pavlyuchenko would be free to go wherever he wanted to.

He added: “If he’s not happy and somebody wants to pay the right money for him then something might happen. But he wont be leaving here cheaply.”
