Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti is all smiles as he gives his first Chelsea press conference

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti insists that he has an "excellent" working relationship with club owner Roman Abramovich.

The former Milan boss explained that the Russian's keen interest in football, coupled with his proactive nature, is bringing out the best among both men.

When asked as to how he and Abramovich get along, the Italian tactician is quoted by The Daily Mail as saying: "It's excellent, because he's a real football enthusiast.

"He keeps a close eye on the situation, sees a lot of matches on TV, knows the players and also comes to our training sessions."

Ancelotti then shed light on his training regime, explaining that one of the few things he has changed since his arrival has been to give his charges an extra dose of tactics.

"I've gone for the very same fitness routine introduced by [former Stamford Bridge boss] Guus Hiddink, without the slightest change," he said.

"It's a routine that has drastically reduced the number of injuries over the last season.
