Man Admits To Stabbing West Ham United's Calum Davenport
Defender was stabbed in both legs...
A man has pleaded guilty to stabbing West Ham United defender Calum Davenport in an attack at his mother's home in Kempston on 22 August.
Warrell Whitehurst, 25, admitted causing grievous bodily harm when he appeared at Luton Crown Court today.
Davenport needed surgery after being stabbed in both legs, and was left with a 15-inch scar on one of them.
Whitehurst, who is the boyfriend of Davenport's sister, also admitted wounding Davenport's mother, Kim Stupple.
Judge John Bevan QC told the court Whitehurst will face a substantial prison sentence. He will be sentenced at a later date.
It is unclear when Calum Davenport will return to action but he has recently resumed light training.
