Liverpool have been dealt another blow as midfielders Yossi Benayoun and Albert Riera have both been ruled out for up to four weeks.
According to a report in The Daily Telegraph, both players will spend the international break being treated by the club's medics at the Melwood training ground, as will a long list of players including Fernando Torres, Steven Gerrard and Daniel Agger.
The duo will miss the clash against Manchester City upon the resumption of Premier League action, and may also miss the last two games in the group stage of the Champions League.
Agger had to be withdrawn from from the Denmark squad due to a recurrence of a back injury that has haunted the defender all season, but he, at least, is expected to have recovered in time to face City at Anfield.
However, that game will come too soon for Riera and Benayoun, who picked up their respective injuries during Liverpool's recent 2-2 draw against Birmingham City at Anfield.
