Recently crowned Denmark's Player of the Year, Nicklas Bendtner has confidently claimed that he also aims to be the World Cup's top scorer at next summer's finals in South Africa, as well as becoming one of the best strikers on the planet within the next five years.

The tall Arsenal striker made the eye-raising comments during the Player of the Year ceremony in Copenhagen on Monday evening.

"I had three aims this year – to get into the Arsenal team, qualify for the World Cup and to be [Denmark's] Player of the Year. I have achieved them all," Bendtner said.

"I want to be top scorer in the Premier League, top scorer at the World Cup and, within five years, I want to be among the best strikers in the world."

Bendtner recently underwent minor surgery in Germany, after suffering a groin injury during Arsenal's 3-0 win over north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. He is expected to be out of action for at least a month.
