Jamie O'Hara: I Won't Walk Away From Portsmouth
On-loan Spur to stay on south coast and battle...
Portsmouth midfielder Jamie O'Hara has pledged that he won't shirk the challenge of keeping the club in the Premier League.
The England Under-21 international is on loan on the south coast from Tottenham Hotspur until January, but has intimated that he would like to stay until the end of the season and perhaps beyond.
Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has also hinted that he would be open to a bid for the player on a permanent basis from Pompey.
"I'm enjoying my football and I'm playing every week. That's all I can ask for," O'Hara told Portsmouth newspaper The News.
"Maybe, I was disappointed with the performance at Blackburn but I'm enjoying it. All I want to do as a footballer in the Premier League is play football.
"I say to myself how would it look to the Pompey fans if I left in January?
"They travel away and come to every game and we're fighting for every point.
"Then come January I pack up and go back to Tottenham, and I'm back in the comfort zone. How does it look to them? Maybe it looks like I've walked away from a fight.
"I'm not that type of person. I want to be there for the team and the club.
'I want to help us get out of trouble."
Portsmouth lost to Blackburn Rovers at the weekend, after something of a revival in form that had seen them collect two wins on the trot and three wins and a draw from their last five games.
O'Hara feels sure that their team spirit will soon see them back on track though.
"The lads have been fighting together and we have stick to together as a team," he added.
"Maybe we lost it a bit against Blackburn. Maybe we dropped our heads a bit after the first goal and thought we couldn't hold on.
"If we are going to get out of the bottom three, we have to stick together as a team and fight for every single point."
