Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson believes that his Chelsea counterpart Carlo Ancelotti will not be under the shadow of Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge.

'The Special One' won two Premier League titles, an FA Cup and a League Cup during his three-year stint as manager of the west London outfit.

Ancelotti is relatively new to English waters, but the Red Devils' gaffer insists that the Italian's experience in Serie A is more than enough for him to shake off the Mourinho influence at the club.

"I don’t think Carlo will be worried about Jose Mourinho," said Ferguson, according to The Mirror.

"Look at his CV – it’s pretty impressive. He’s won two European Cups and the Scudetto. He was also a top player who won the European Cup three times.

"I don’t see what Mourinho did there being a problem to him. His credentials as a coach are unquestionable.

"He’s got them playing a different way to Jose – his way."

Ferguson then pointed out that Ancelotti had a long and successful career at San Siro, and suggested that he came to the UK seeking a new challenge.

"Carlo was [head coach] at Milan a long time," he said. "Eight years is unheard of in Italy.

"Maybe he came to the point where he needed a new challenge – and that meant the Premier League. Where else could he have gone? Real Madrid in Spain, maybe? Barcelona?

"I think England, and the level of competition we have over here, was right for him."

Ancelotti and Ferguson will cross swords at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
