Former England head coach Terry Venables has declared that Chelsea must beat Manchester United at Stamford Bridge tomorrow if they are to have any hope of reclaiming the Premier League crown.

In his column for British tabloid The Sun, Venables intimates that once players like Michael Essien, Salomon Kalou, and more importantly, Didier Drogba, are out of action due to the African Nations Cup, the Blues will lose some much-needed momentum against the Red Devils, who will charge through the second half of the season.

The former Three Lions coach affirms that for Chelsea to balance things out in their favour before January comes along, they must first win tomorrow’s much anticipated match-up.

“If the Londoners are to have any chance of winning back the title they need to create more distance between themselves and the team who will ultimately challenge them for the crown come May,” he said.

Venables added that when it comes to Manchester United, it is hard to see anything halting their progress in life after Cristiano Ronaldo.

“They are hardly steamrollering teams, but you simply cannot bet against them for the title.

“...you have to fear for Chelsea's title chances if they do not win tomorrow.”
