Official: Portsmouth Capture Benfica Midfielder Hassan Yebda On Loan

Pompey have bolstered their midfield options with the Frenchman...

Nadir Belhadj (RC Lens) vs Hassan Yebda (Le Mans)
Portsmouth have completed the signing of Benfica midfielder Hassan Yebda on a season-long deal, the Portuguese club have confirmed.

Yebda, 25, joined Benfica from Le Mans for nothing last season, becoming a regular member of the squad coached by Quique Flores.

However, he found playing time very limited in the pre-season and the signings of Javi Garcia and Ramires pushed him down the pecking order at the Estadio da Luz.

Yebda had long been linked with a move to the Premier League, where Blackburn and Everton were both understood to be keen, but Portsmouth moved in quickly to secure the services of the French midfielder, who will play at Fratton Park until the end of the season.
