Benjani's Transfer From Manchester City To Hull City Cancelled

Personal terms could not be agreed and so Benjani remains a Citizen.

EPL: Benjani Mwaruwari, Manchester United - Manchester City (PA)

Benjani's anticipated move from Manchester City to Hull City has been cancelled as personal terms could not be agreed between the player and the Tigers, according to a report on Sky Sports News.

The Zimbabwe international was deemed surplus to requirements at Eastlands following the addition of a trident of strikers - Paraguayan hitman Roque Santa Cruz, tireless workhorse Carlos Tevez and Togolese target-man Emmanuel Adebayor - this summer.

Hull, meanwhile, have spent the whole summer pursuing endless trails towards strikers, only to be rebuffed at the final hurdle.

Phil Brown made public his willingness to bring Michael Owen to the KC Stadium, but the England international joined Manchester United, while the manager's desire to bring Alvaro Negredo, Bobby Zamora or Fraizer Campbell to the club also bore no fruit.

Benjani will return to Manchester prior to the transfer window deadline on Tuesday afternoon.
