Middlesbrough defender Robert Huth is reportedly close to completing a move to Stoke City.

The German defender is believed to be having a medical with the Premier League club today, ahead of a deal understood to be worth £6 million, according to Sky Sports News.

'Boro manager Gareth Southgate had been eager to keep the centre-back, who has attracted interest from clubs including Everton and Aston Villa, following the Teesside club's relegation to the Championship.

The same source is also suggesting Stoke boss Tony Pulis may make a £6m bid to take Turkish striker Tuncay Sanli away from the Riverside.

Tuncay had been expected to be playing at a higher level already this season, but with less than a week remaining before the transfer window closes, the highly-regarded frontman is still plying his trade in England's second tier.

There had been a mass exodus of players expected at the club, but thus far, Stewart Downing has been the only high-profile player to leave, though Huth now looks set to follow.

Middlesbrough are currently second in the Championship, having made an unbeaten start to the season.
