Manchester City Want Boca Juniors Ace Juan Roman Riquelme - Report

The Citizens are reportedly looking to sign the Argentine wonder...

Juan Roman Riquelme gestures in familiar fashion after finding the net for Boca Juniors.
According to a report in GLOBOESPORTE, Manchester City have jumped to the front of the queue to capture Boca Juniors playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme.

The former Barcelona and Villarreal man has been linked with football away from La Bombonera, with Corinthians understood to be keen on pairing him with Ronaldo.

But despite the Brazilian side's interest in Riquelme, they are baulking at the midfielder's €2 million-a-year wage demands, and have turned their attention to Huracan's Matias Defederico.

Money would not be an issue for cash-rich City, who are reportedly readying a €17m bid for Riquelme.

The 31-year-old midfielder, who has refused to play for his country under Diego Maradona, returned to Boca Juniors in 2007 after four years at Villarreal.
