Daniel Ayala made his home debut for Liverpool during last night's 4-0 win against Stoke City at Anfield.

Manager Rafael Benitez has come out praising the teenager for putting in a good shift alongside Jamie Carragher. The gaffer has voiced his opinion, saying that the starlet will become a better player after spending 90 minutes playing next to the Reds' defensive stalwart.

"Ayala is young and it was more or less his first official game," Benitez told the club's official website.

"He was a little bit nervous but in the end he was very good. He has to work, have more games and experience."

Ayala got a look in due to Martin Skrtel cracking his jaw when he collided with Carragher during the Merseyside club's loss to Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
