Promising Real Madrid striker Alvaro Negredo has rejected a transfer to the KC Stadium for a mooted switch to Sevilla and the prospect of Champions League football.

Hull City chairman Paul Duffen told BBC Radio Humberside that the 23-year-old striker has decided against a move to the Premier League club. Thus ends several weeks of negotiations which culminated in the £12 million bid for the man who scored 19 goals while on loan with Almeria.

"We've had lengthy, lengthy negotiations with Real Madrid," Duffen said. "I've been working on that for six weeks."

Hull City manager Phil Brown remains in the market for attacking reinforcements, having missed out on Michael Owen, Marc-Antoine Fortune, Fraizer Campbell and now Negredo this summer.
